Northwest Florida deer hunting regulations changing

deer-changesThe Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) voted April 17 to change deer hunting regulations in northwest Florida.

FWC voted to divide northwest Florida into two deer management units (DMU) using Interstate-10 as the dividing line. Each DMU has a unique set of antler-point requirements and antlerless deer harvest days.

The changes in part include lessening the number of antlerless deer hunting days south of Interstate-10 from seven to four and increasing the number of days from seven to eight north of I-10.

The new regulations take effect during the 2014 – 2015 hunting season.
