Ethan Andre was as thrilled about being back on the field as his teammates. Normally in July, summer workouts for the Navarre baseball team are already finished.
But this has been a different kind of year. The season was brought to a halt in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Navarre hasn’t been able to play games in June either because of restrictions surrounding high school workouts.
So, on this muggy summer morning at the Raider baseball field, the group of eight rising seniors know that something is better than nothing. They have gladly embraced the chance to be together again, even if it is just to put in some offseason work for 2021.
“It’s been great being around my teammates again. I’ve missed these guys,” Andre said. “It’s like a family reunion.”
