The retirement community in central Florida famous for its souped-up golf carts once again was the nation’s fastest growing metro area, according to figures released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

No decision has been made on whether to continue allowing the hunting of Florida black bears. The hunt that killed 304 bears in October was Florida’s first in over 20 years, and game officials ended it early when the harvest limits in some hunting areas were quickly exceeded.
JURORS SAY HOGAN WAS DISTRESSED BY PUBLICATION OF SEX TAPE
In an ABC News interview that aired Thursday morning, the jurors said that despite Hogan’s celebrity status, he’s still a human being. They awarded him $140 million in his lawsuit against Gawker Media.
FLORIDA GOV. SCOTT SIGNS BODY CAMERA AND SLUNGSHOT BILLS
Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed a total of 34 bills into law, including one that would remove slungshots from the list of weapons that require a concealed weapons permit. A slungshot is a maritime tool — a rope with a weight that’s wrapped in a knot called a monkey fist.

Murphy is among a minority of Democrats who have supported Republican-proposed changes to the Dodd-Frank Act, enacted in 2010 as a response to the worst financial crisis in seven decades. Murphy said banking giants like J.P. Morgan and Bank of America can afford to hire compliance officers, lawyers and accountants to deal with it, but doing so takes up resources for small banks that should be used elsewhere.
