FLORIDA OFFICIALS TO DISCUSS CUSTODY FOR DOCTOR’S CHILDREN

Officials with the Florida Department of Children and Families are meeting to discuss a temporary custody solution for the daughters of slain Bonita Springs doctor Teresa Sievers after her husband was arrested in connection with her death. Sievers’ husband, Mark, was arrested Friday. On Saturday, a Lee County judge ordered him held on a $4.43 million bond. That’s the same amount of money he took out in insurance policies on his wife before investigators say he orchestrated her killing.

ANOTHER WIN FOR BILL THAT WOULD ALLOW SLOTS ACROSS FLORIDA

A Florida House panel on Monday voted 12-5 in favor of a bill that also approves a proposed deal with the Seminole Tribe of Florida. That deal lets the tribe add craps and roulette to their existing casinos.

4TH PREGNANT WOMEN TESTS POSITIVE FOR ZIKA IN FLORIDA

Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong announced the new case Monday in his daily Zika update. A news release says the new case and three reported last week are believed to be travel-related. Officials weren’t identifying the counties where the pregnant women were diagnosed.

POLICE: MAN FATALLY STRUCK BY TRAIN WHILE WALKING ON TRACKS

Lantana police Chief Sean Scheller says the train operator told them the man appeared to be talking on the cellphone and didn’t make an attempt to get off the tracks Monday morning. Media outlets are reporting that traffic in the area is moving again after nearby roads were closed just after the crash.
