TRAINER CLAWED ON LEGS BY TIGER AT FAIR AS CHILDREN LOOK ON
Pensacola Interstate Fair publicist Katie King says trainer Vicenta Pages suffered several cuts Tuesday when a 2-year-old Bengal tiger named Gandhi clawed her legs. The publicist says Pages’ husband rushed to help the trainer. Pages stood up unassisted and talked to the children before going to a hospital. King adds Pages wasn’t bitten.
8 CHARGED IN THEFT OF 23,000 APPLE IPHONES AT MIAMI AIRPORT
The FBI said in a news release Tuesday that the suspects were arrested in the Miami area. They face conspiracy to possess stolen goods and other federal charges. The stolen phones are valued at $6.7 million. According to a grand jury indictment, the group used false identification and a tractor-trailer altered to appear like it belonged to a legitimate company to steal the iPhones in April.
FLORIDA INKS DEAL WITH FERTILIZER MAKER ON SINKHOLE CLEANUP
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection issued the consent order to seal the hole and clean up the contamination late Monday. It requires the Mosaic Co. to seal the hole that’s been open since August, recover pollution sent into the aquifer and increase monitoring of groundwater impacts.
NEARLY 2 MILLION FLORIDIANS HAVE ALREADY VOTED IN ELECTION
New numbers released Tuesday by the state Division of Elections show nearly 300,000 voters went to early voting sites on the first day it was offered in 50 counties. Another 1.3 million voters sent in their ballots by mail. Florida is a battleground state and the start of early voting has prompted Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton to sweep through the state.
FLORIDA MAN GETS 3 YEARS FOR SLAMMING DOG INTO WALL
On Monday, 42-year-old Jan Cornel Henry Jr. was sentenced to 3 years in prison for animal cruelty. Henry was arrested March 6 and his girlfriend called 911 screaming “he’s killing my dog.” A deputy found the dog wedged under Henry’s couch with its head at an odd angle. The dog was dead.
