ENDANGERED DEER GET MEDICATION STATIONS TO FIGHT SCREWWORMS

Anti-parasitic feeding troughs baited with sweet corn, oats and other grains are being deployed deep inside the National Key Deer Refuge. U.S. Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Joanna Davis says this provides another layer of protection to the endangered herd. The agency has been releasing sterile male screwworm flies to the wild population.

MAN FOUND DEAD FOLLOWING TAMPA HOUSE FIRE

Firefighters responded to the Ybor City home Wednesday morning. Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Penny says the fire was under control in less than 15 minutes, and the man’s body was found inside.

ORLANDO’S CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION GOT A LOT MORE DIVERSE

Voters in central Florida on election night picked an African American woman, a Puerto Rican man and an Asian American woman to represent them in Washington. The increased diversity was helped by the redrawing of some congressional districts that made the central Florida districts more Democratic-leaning.

2 KILLED IN 3-VEHICLE CRASH ON I-75 NEAR TAMPA

The Florida Highway Patrol says a tired blew out and the driver lost control of her sports utility vehicle on Tuesday. The SUV rotated in the northbound lanes and went into the path of another vehicle. The second car overturned and severely injuring the driver and killing two passengers. Troopers say the SUV then hit a second vehicle.

WORKER INJURED IN BOAT PLANT EXPLOSION

The explosion occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Boston Whaler facility in Edgewater. Volusia County spokeswoman Shelley Szafraniec says workers were pressure-testing an aluminum fuel tank below deck of a large boat that was on dry dock when it exploded.
