FLORIDA K-9 FOUND DEAD IN CRUISER PARKED OUTSIDE COURTHOUSE

News outlets are reporting the German Shepherd’s body was discovered about 7:30 p.m. Friday outside the Brevard County Courthouse in Melbourne on Florida’s Atlantic coast. The patrol car belonged to an officer from the nearby Sebastian Police Department. John Blackledge, the agency’s commander of operations, called the dog’s death a tragedy, adding that his agency will conduct an independent investigation.

Michael Lamothe was arrested on aggravated battery charges after the incident at Oyster Bay pub in Daytona Beach early Sunday. The charge was upgraded to manslaughter after Debra Jost died. The newspaper says police found Jost on the floor with a cut to the back of her head and blood coming from her nose and mouth.

SURVEY: CONSUMER CONFIDENCE IN FLORIDA DROPPED IN APRIL

The monthly University of Florida consumer survey released Tuesday measured confidence at 95.7, which is 3.5 points lower than it was in March. The lowest index possible is a 2, and the highest is 150. Hector Sandoval of the Economic Analysis Program at UF’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research said that while the numbers have shifted somewhat that the perceptions are relatively stable.

MIAMI BEACH LAWYER CHARGED WITH CYBERSTALKING EX-GIRLFRIEND

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said in a news release Tuesday that 37-year-old Grant Sarbinoff harassed the woman on a daily basis since their breakup in late September 2016. Rundle says Sarbinoff is facing several charges, including stalking, identity theft and illegal computer access. Rundle says Sarbinoff came to the woman’s home late at night more than 20 times and had her power disconnected.

USF FOOTBALL PLAYER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL BATTERY

USF police announced Tuesday that they arrested LaDarrius Divonta Jackson Monday night. According to the police statement, Jackson allegedly assaulted a female acquaintance at 2:30 p.m. Monday. According to the arrest report, the victim told police that Jackson pushed her into her room and “she attempted to prevent him by placing her hands on the walls” before she was assaulted.
