ROAD CONSTRUCTION WORKER KILLED BY STREET SWEEPER TRUCK
Everett Leslie Rolfe was killed Friday. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Rolfe was flagging traffic at a Hastings intersection as the sweeper truck moved through the area. Officials say Rolfe was walking backward when the sweeper’s rear bumper hit him.
FLORIDA OFFICIALS: MAN FLEEING IN STOLEN CAR DIES IN CRASH
Rodrick Childs was the only person in the four-door Infiniti when he crashed Sunday evening. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that a deputy pulled Childs over and determined the car had been stolen in Alachua County. When another deputy responded as backup, authorities say, Childs sped off. A short time later, reports show that Childs lost control, crashed into an oncoming car, went through the yards of two homes and hit a house. Childs was ejected and killed.

Volusia County Judge Leah Case said Monday that while she agrees Ebony Wilkerson is ready to see her children, she won’t grant her visitation request until a solid plan is in place. Local media outlets are reporting the judge wants a licensed professional to oversee the reunion. The judge asked the defense lawyers to select someone.
TEEN DIES FROM APPARENT DROWNING IN CENTRAL FLORIDA LAKE
Eduardo Gonzalez had been fishing and swimming at Crystal Lake in Lakeland Saturday afternoon. His father reported him missing later that night when he didn’t come home. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that the teen’s body was discovered Sunday morning in about 8 feet of water about 28 feet from the shore.
2 PANTHERS KILLED IN SEPARATE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA INCIDENTS
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports that a 2-year-old male cat’s body was found dead from an apparent vehicle strike on State Route 29 in Collier County on May 3, and an 11-year-old female was found dead from a fight with another panther in Big Cypress National Preserve on May 6.
