POLICE: TSA WORKER CAUGHT STEALING CASH AT FLORIDA AIRPORT

Alexander Shae Johnson was arrested Thursday. Court records show the 22-year-old faces a third-degree felony grand theft charge. An Orlando police report says a passenger selected for a pat-down search while going through security at Orlando International Airport saw Johnson standing near her bag. The report says she went through her bag afterward and realized cash was missing before noticing a bulge in Johnson’s shirt pocket that turned out to be money.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER PILOTLESS BOAT CRASHES ONTO FLORIDA BEACH

The 36-foot boat was pilotless when it ran aground at full throttle on Daytona Beach on Saturday morning, scattering beachgoers. Volusia County Beach Ocean Rescue officials tell local news outlets 20-year-old Jonathan Race of Daytona Beach was arrested Sunday. He’s charged with two counts of burglary and grand theft of a vehicle less than $100,000. He remained in the county jail Monday morning.

BODY OF MISSING FLORIDA DIVER FOUND AFTER 2-DAY SEARCH

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said that its marine unit found 60-year-old Antonio Almeida on Sunday. The search had begun a day earlier after the Deerfield Beach man failed to surface about a half-a-mile way from Lauderdale-By-the-Sea, which is in South Florida. The search included help from the U.S. Coast Guard.

FLORIDA GOV. RICK SCOTT TRAVELS STATE TO TOUT NEW APPOINTMENT

Scott was in Panama City on Monday to announce that he’s appointing Republican Jimmy Patronis as chief financial officer. Scott was also visiting Tampa and Pensacola to publicize the high-profile appointment. Patronis, who helped his family run a well-known restaurant, currently sits on the panel that regulates utilities. Patronis was a member of the Florida Legislature for eight years.

FAMILY MEMBER ACCIDENTALLY BACKS CAR OVER CHILD IN FLORIDA

Jacksonville Sheriff’s officials tell local news outlets that the incident happened early Monday at the Matthews Crossing Apartments. They say the driver was leaving an apartment and momentarily lost track of the child. Incident reports say the car backed over the child. The child was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Traffic homicide detectives are investigating the incident.
