OFFICER’S TRIAL DELAYED UNTIL APRIL IN MOTORIST’S SHOOTING

Nouman Raja’s trial was moved Tuesday from Oct. 30 to April 2 to give both sides more time to interview potential witnesses. The 39-year-old former Palm Beach Gardens officer shot Corey Jones in October 2015. Jones’ car had broken down when he was confronted by Raja, who was working undercover. Prosecutors say a taped conversation Jones had with a tow truck dispatcher shows Raja never identified himself before Jones pulled his gun.

TRIAL SET DATE IN MURDER-FOR-HIRE CASE OF LAW PROFESSOR

A judge on Tuesday set a January trial date for Sigfredo Garcia, who authorities say gunned down Daniel Markel in his garage nearly three years ago. Three people were charged with killing the Florida State University law professor and Toronto native, who was known internationally. Police say the killing was sparked by a bitter divorce and family squabbles.

Visitors drive their cars down a five-mile road to see them.

State Attorney Bill Eddins alleged in a release that Marcus May, the Newpoint owner, obtained more than $1 million in public money from the schools and used proceeds to acquire property and pay for plastic surgery and cruises.
