SMALL PLANE CRASHES INTO FLORIDA HOUSE WITH 3 ABOARD
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue spokeswoman Sandra King was quoted by the Sun Sentinel that no one inside the house was injured when the plane hit it Monday afternoon. King said one woman and two men were inside the Hawker Beechcraft 76, and they were all in critical condition.
FLORIDA TO RUN RADIO ADS BASHING CALIFORNIA’S HIGHER WAGES
The state’s economic development agency is using taxpayer money for radio ads that will run on Los Angeles and San Francisco radio stations. The ads paid from Enterprise Florida’s marketing budget are running before Gov. Rick Scott heads to California to try to convince businesses to relocate to Florida. Scott leaves Sunday. The Republican governor visited several states last year run by Democrats where he denounced their taxes and business climate.
SHERIFF PROMISES FAIR INVESTIGATION INTO BLACK MAN’S DEATH
St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said Monday that no witnesses have talked to his investigators about Saturday night’s shooting of 21-year-old Demarcus Semer, even though 12 people at the scene said they witnessed it. He said his detectives passed out cards, but no one has called. Mascara said Semer had no criminal record, was employed and was “well-respected in the community.”
DAD WITH 6-YEAR-OLD IN HOUSE FACES DOWN SWAT TEAM; BOY OK
St. Petersburg police say 31-year-old Fabian Williams is accused of domestic aggravated assault, being a felon with a firearm and child abuse. Authorities were called to the home on Sunday. Police say Williams had a fight with his girlfriend, fired a shot from his gun and then went into his neighbor’s house with his son. A SWAT team came to the home and eventually Williams came outside.
SPOOKED HORSE RESCUED AFTER ENDING UP IN MIAMI CANAL
Gisela Alvarez jumped off the male horse just in time to avoid going into the canal on Sunday morning. Her friend Rafael Rodriguez used a rope to help keep the horse’s head above water until Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews arrived. Rodriguez says the horse would have drowned if help didn’t arrive.
