FLORIDA AG RELEASES A BUYING GUIDE
Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is giving consumers her own version of a holiday shopping guide. Bondi is releasing a 114-page guide online that includes tips on online purchases and how to avoid charity scams. The guide also contains photos and descriptions of items that have been recalled in the past year due to safety or health issues.
JACKSONVILLE OFFICER FATALLY SHOOTS SUSPECT
Authorities say a Jacksonville police officer fatally shot a man during a traffic stop. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reports that the officer stopped a vehicle Monday evening for an expired tag. The vehicle’s driver, 33-year-old Leonardo Marquette Little, reportedly had a suspended license. Police say the officer first shot Little with a Taser stun gun. When Little continued to fight the officer, police say the officer shot Little at least twice.
FERGUSON PROTESTS IN MIAMI
Two people were arrested during a protest in Miami in reaction to the Ferguson, Missouri, grand jury decision. Approximately 150 people gathered outside the Richard Gerstein Justice Building near downtown Miami Tuesday evening. No violence or property damage was reported, but Miami police say two South Florida men were arrested during the demonstration and charged with failure to obey a lawful order.
POLICE: CHILD SHOT IN FINGER DURING HOME INVASION
Police say a 3-year-old was shot in the finger during a robbery at a home in Jacksonville. The Florida Times-Union reports the child’s mother and her fiance were in the home Tuesday afternoon when the child headed toward the kitchen. The fiance followed and saw someone in a ski mask coming in through the back door.
MAN ACCUSED OF SETTING UP METH LAB IN PARK BATHROOM
Authorities say a 20-year-old man is accused of trying to set up a meth lab in a restroom at a park in New Smyrna Beach. The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports a construction worker called 911 on Tuesday to report smoke that smelled of chemicals and acid coming from the men’s bathroom at Detwiler Park.
