GOV. RICK SCOTT WANTS TO CUT STATE TAXES CHARGED ON CELLPHONES, CABLE TV AND SATELLITE
Scott on Tuesday will call on state legislators to cut nearly $500 million a year in the tax. The Scott administration estimates that the 3.6 percent tax cut would save the average Floridian more than $40 a year. Scott promised to cut the tax during his re-election campaign. The Republican governor wants to cut overall taxes by more than $1 billion over the next two years. His proposal would cut more than a third of the money paid to the state in communication services taxes.
CLEARWATER POLICE FIND BOY SLEEPING IN CAR THAT WAS STOLEN
According to police, Elizabeth Rivera left her son Theron Fields asleep in the car while she went inside a Clearwater apartment late Monday. When she returned outside, the car was gone, along with her son. Authorities found the car a little over an hour later. Police say the car was found abandoned outside another apartment complex 2 miles away. According to police, Theron was “sound asleep in the back seat of the locked car.” The boy has been reunited with his mother.
FLORIDA BOY IS KILLED AFTER 2 DOGS ATTACK HIM WHILE HE PLAYS
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office says 18-month old Declin Moss of Brooksville was killed Monday. Police say the boy’s grandfather was watching him while he played on the porch, when two of the family’s mixed-breed dogs attacked the boy. Deputies pronounced the child dead at the scene.
WOMAN WHO SURVIVED SHOOTING AT CENTRAL FLORIDA MALL IN GOOD CONDITION, HELPING INVESTIGATORS
A woman who survived a shooting at a central Florida shopping mall is helping authorities with their investigation. Melbourne Police say 33-year-old Idanerys Garcia-Rodriguez remains hospitalized in good condition and has been cooperating with detectives working to piece together what led to the Saturday shooting at Melbourne Square Mall. Police say Garcia-Rodriguez’s husband, Jose Garcia-Rodriguez, was the gunman.
CHARGES FILED IN GANG RAPE OF CENTRAL FLORIDA GIRL; 6 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYERS SUSPECTED
Five football players from a central Florida high school have been charged with gang rape. Three of the young men are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in juvenile court in Seminole County in the Nov. 13 crime. The other two are expected to be prosecuted as adults. A sixth person who is 18 and the only adult suspected in the rape, has not yet been charged but is due in court Tuesday as well.
