RECORD 37TH FLORIDA PANTHER DEATH RECORDED IN 2015
A record 37th Florida panther death has been recorded by state wildlife officials, the majority of the endangered big cats struck and killed by vehicles. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials say a year-old female hit by a car earlier this week in Hendry County set the new record.

A Florida Panhandle county’s jail system is in turmoil after its director was fired following six inmate deaths in the past 13 months, three by suicide and three by natural causes. The first death under Escambia County director Michael Tidwell, who was fired last week, came just months after a 2014 explosion killed two inmates, injured 200 and destroyed the main jail.
ARMS DEALER: GUN LINKED TO PARIS ATTACKS CAME THROUGH FLORIDA
A Serbian arms dealer says one of the guns linked to Islamic militants in the Paris attacks that killed 130 people was exported to Florida in 2013. The dealer says the M92 firearm was exported to online arms seller Century Arms based in Delray Beach, Florida, but it’s not clear how the weapon wound up in Europe.
MOTHER SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR KILLING 3 CHILDREN
A Florida mother will spend the rest of her life in prison after pleading guilty to killing her three young children earlier this year. Circuit Judge James Earp on Thursday imposed a sentence of life without parole on 33-year-old Jessica McCarty of Palm Bay.

Officials are set to begin a $21.5 million restoration project on south Siesta Key to help battle erosion at one of the state’s most popular beaches. Sarasota County plans to add about 690,000 cubic yards of sand and 1.1 acres of dune vegetation starting next month.
