JURY SELECTED FOR JACKSONVILLE FATAL SHOOTING
A 12-person jury and four alternates have been chosen to hear the first-degree murder trial of a man accused of shooting a 17-year-old boy during an argument over loud music at a Jacksonville gas station. The panel seated Wednesday is made up of six white females, three black females, four white males, one Hispanic male, and two women who appeared to be of Asian descent. Jurors will not be told who the alternates are until just before they begin deliberations at the end of the trial.
FLORIDA DRIVER CITED AFTER BACKING INTO 7, KILLING 3
A 79-year-old woman mistakenly backed into seven people in a parking lot with her SUV, killing three of them and injuring four. The Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release Wednesday that Doreene Landstra of Palmetto has been ordered to appear in court next month after receiving a citation for improper backing. The collision happened Sunday at the Sugar Creek Country Club.
NAKED MAN DIES AFTER ATTACKING SEVERAL PEOPLE IN PALM BEACH COUNTY
A 6-foot-3, 250-pound man is dead after an attack along Military Trail in Delray Beach on Tuesday night. Authorities say the man attacked a former police officer, chased a man and his 10-year-son and bit an 18-year-old before a deputy shot him. The man died a short time later at a hospital.
FATAL FIRE NOW INVESTIGATED AS DOUBLE HOMICIDE
Pasco County investigators are looking into the deaths of two 24-year-old roommates following a fire on Monday. They believe the fire was set to cover up the crime. The sheriff described the victims as “high probability victims” who put themselves in harm’s way.
