        Gulf Islands National Seashore excavated the first Kemp's Ridley sea turtle nest in a unit of the National Park Service at dusk last Friday, at the Seashore's Fort Pickens area. The nest was located on the south side of Fort Pickens Road near the easternmost parking area.

Tropical activity in Gulf causes boom removal

The State Emergency Response Team, in coordination with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), today announced the removal of supplemental Tier 3 boom within the next 72 to 96 hours in the Panhandle counties. The removal is in light of the potential tropical activity in the Gulf of Mexico.
