Navarre High School held a special ceremony Friday evening prior to the opening kickoff in their game against Choctawhatchee High School at Bennet C. Russell Stadium to retire the jersey of Ian Lockwood, a former Raider who succumbed to brain cancer in January 2011 after a courageous two-year battle that inspired an entire community.
Lockwood, a senior at the time of his passing, was a star football player for Navarre High and a Navarre Beach lifeguard. Lockwood’s No. 10 was permanently retired in his honor with the remarks that "Ian will forever be our No. 10." Ian's parents, sister and fellow team members were on the field to receive the jersey in the emotional ceremony.
