Jenna Bobbitt has always been very competitive. When she was young, her brother Michael played baseball. “I wanted to play the baseball too, just like my brother,” Jenna said. “I was lucky because my parents encouraged me.”
She played a season of softball at NYSA, but the game was not competitive enough to suit her. The following season she played for the Navarre Hurricanes, a travel baseball team. “I was the only girl on the team, but no one seemed to mind.” Bobbitt pitched and played the outfield.
The summer before she entered high school, Bobbitt was invited to play with the varsity softball team for one summer league game. In her first at bat, Bobbitt hit a home run. Coach Scott Murphy immediately took notice.
