The Raider defense allowed 404 yards against Escambia in the first game of the Jamboree. However, they came up big with two turnovers that helped to propel the Raiders to an 18 – 14 come-from-behind win over the Bulldogs in the game played at Crestview on May 24.
Trailing the Bulldogs 14 - 6 with less than two minutes to play, Derek Smith broke through the defense from his own 47 yard line. He outran all but one Bulldog defender, who met him at the 10-yard line. Smith reached out and pushed the defender away with his left arm and ran the last 10 yards into the end zone. The Raiders missed the extra point and the Raiders found themselves on the short end of a 14 – 12 score.
Crestview took over at their own 30-yard line with a minute to play. All they had to do for the win was run out the clock.
