Pensacola State College sophomore second baseman Kelly Hayes, a Navarre High School graduate, pictured with parents Denise and Larry Hayes, recently was honored by the Florida College System Activities Association as the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
The Council for Athletic Affairs Executive Board votes for the award’s winner from among the individual female sport winners. Hayes was eligible for the award by winning the Jean Williams award for the outstanding female softball scholar athlete in the FCSAA.
The Jean Williams Award is the highest honor that can be awarded to a Florida junior college softball player. The award recognizes athletic skill, academic success and service to the community. Hayes joins former Pensacola Junior College alumni Dana Gilmore and Whitney Ward (2008) in earning the Jean Williams Award. Hayes is the first to earn the FCSAA Female Scholar Athlete award for Pensacola State College.
