Before a baseball game this spring at Navarre High School, Paulette Rollant gripped the baseball, went through her wind up, and threw a perfect pitch to Raiders’ catcher Matt Marshall.
Presidents, dignitaries, celebrities and former big league players who have attempted and failed miserably to throw a ceremonial first pitch would have been impressed. More importantly, Dan Rollant could not have possibly been more proud. Not only for Paulette's execution of the pitch, but for what she has done to honor him since his death in December 2011.
"Dan was a man of few words; he was a good listener, but if you got him started on baseball, he would talk your leg off," Rollant said. "He would watch baseball for hours. I think he watched and dreamed about what could have been.”
