The Pensacola Sports Association selected Navarre High School soccer players Hayley Naker, Morgan Littlewood, Brendan White, Jordan Supra and Ryan Olson to play for the East teams in its Subway High School All-Star Series soccer games, and the Florida Athletic Coaches Association picked Littlewood, Supra and Olson to play in its showcase games at the University of South Florida. The FACA Girls Soccer All Star Classic is planned March 1-2 and the Boys Soccer All Star Classic is scheduled March 8-9.
Because of baseball commitments, White was unable to play in the PSA game Feb. 21 at the Ashton Brosnaham Complex in Pensacola. Isaiah Kalai-Bishaw took his place.
In the girls’ PSA game, Naker and Littlewood both played on the defensive end.
The girls’ all-star game ended in a tie and had to be settled by penalty kicks. Littlewood was chosen as one of five players take a PK. She drilled it home to help the East win the game.
The East also won the boy’s game by a 1-0 score. Supra had a couple of chances to score, but was stopped by outstanding defensive plays. The defense was tough by both teams, and the only goal scored was by Navarre’s Olson.
“Late in the game, a Gulf Breeze midfielder hit a long shot from midfield,” Olson said. “I dove for the ball trying to get a head on it. The ball bounced off me and in for the score. It was fun for us to be playing with the guys from Gulf Breeze and some of the Okaloosa schools. We are so used to being competitors.”
