Navarre High School Raiders football team captain Jay Warren, 17, puts a wrist band on Ryan Baldomero, 8, after he and fellow team mates, Devon Colonel and Mason Mikul presented Ryan with a football signed by each NHS football player.
Ryan was presented with the football during the Oct. 12 NYSA homecoming and his sister Laela, 5, was presented with a megaphone from NHS cheerleader Olivia Brahms on behalf the cheerleading squad. Laela and Ryan suffer from a rare genetic disease, Sanfilippo syndrome that disrupts the body's ability to break down sugar molecules. Children with this disease rarely live past their teenage years.
