Raider netters rebound against Pensacola

Navarre High’s volleyball team returned to the court Tuesday, a night after being swept at Crestview, and beat Pensacola in four sets, 25-20, 25-15, 23-25, 25-17.

The Raiders improved their record to 9-3 overall and 7-1 in District 1-6A play. The win was Navarre’s second against the Tigers; the Raiders beat Pensacola in three close sets at Pensacola in August.

Kelly Barrett led Navarre’s effort with 21 assists, 11 digs and two service aces. Allison Freer had 15 digs, seven aces and two kills, Kelsey Belmain added 17 digs, five kills and two aces and Ansley Mathews contributed five blocks, eight digs, three kills and three aces. Sarah Betts added eight kills and 10 digs, Miranda Gagnon had five kills and nine digs and Kiera Foster added seven kills and two blocks.

The Raiders are scheduled to play another district match Thursday at Tate High School in Cantonment. First serve of the varsity game is set for 5 p.m., with a junior varsity match scheduled at 4 p.m.
