Defense and special teams paced Navarre High School to a 33-7 season-opening win againstPensacola-Booker T. Washington on Friday.
Interceptions and a fumble return set up three first-halfRaiders' touchdowns and two blocked punts helped keep the ball in Washington's half of the field most of the first half. Navarre's offense finished the second period with a 95-yard scoring drive, converting two third-and-longs to keep the 12-play drive alive. Senior Jay Warren scored his second touchdown from a yard out as the half expired, and Navarre took a 26-0 lead into the lockerroom. Senior quarterback Andrew Rieves found heralded receiver Jordan Leggett open for a 15-yard score in the third quarter.
The Wildcats only score came on the ensuing drive. Navarre played backups much of the second half to seal the win.
