Lady Raiders’ weightlifters dominate sectionals

The Lady Raider weightlifters had high hopes going into the sectional meet on Jan. 25 at Gulf Breeze.

The meet is also called the state qualifier meet because the first three places will go on to the state meet held in Kissimmee later in the month. In the district meet two weeks ago, the Raiders qualified 15 lifters (the maximum number) to compete in the qualifier meet.

Two years ago, the Raiders qualified 14 lifters for the state meet. Last year, 13 Raiders qualified for the state meet where Navarre finished in second place, losing by one point for the third year in a row.
