Aguirre acquires district win

Navarre High School senior Trey Aguirre will be advancing to the regional golf tournament Oct. 25 after winning the individual District 1-2A Tournament Monday in Pace.

Aguirre shot a 69 at Stonebrook Golf Club, which was the best score of the tournament. The 3-under par performance earned him his fourth trip to the Regional Championships. He shot five birdies on the course, three of which were on the last three holes on the course. While the score was impressive for a high-schooler, it still didn't beat his personal best of 67.

"I really wasn't shooting for a number that day," he said. "I was just trying to make it to the next round. I played well and I was consistent."
