Hannah Irby and Hannah Johnson have a lot more than their first names in common.
Both have been varsity cheerleaders for the past three years at Navarre High School. Johnson is the girl on top of the pyramid doing flips, twists and other stunts. Irby is usually one of the girls on the bottom of the pyramid. In many of their routines, Irby’s job is to throw Johnson in the air and catch her on the way down.
Both girls were members of the championship weight-lifting team. Each earned a sixth-place finish in the state competition. Recently, both have received scholarships to cheer at an Alabama school in the fall.
Johnson has been cheering since she was in fourth grade. She will be attending the University of West Alabama in Livingston next year, studying physical therapy or sports medicine.
