Navarre’s Ricki Alex would not allow Tate to come from behind to steal a basketball win last Saturday afternoon.
She scored 12 of her game-high 36 points in the fourth quarter, and then adding seven more in overtime. Alex’s performance gave the Lady Raiders a much-needed 58-53 win after her team suffered a lopsided 64-36 setback to the visiting Pine Forest Lady Eagles on Tuesday.
“Ricki really took it on her shoulders to give us this win,” said Coach David Noles, “especially after four of our starters had fouled out. Tate scored 30 of their points at the free throw line and that, in itself, explains why the game had to go into overtime. When Padilla and Charitat fouled out, we just didn’t have anybody to guard their center. Fortunately, she also fouled out near the end of regulation taking away their main scoring threat.”
