Local real estate market rising, but bumps still expected

The real estate market is on the upswing both in Navarre and across the state of Florida. Adam Muller, vice president of Metro Market Trends, discussed the market overview of Navarre and Navarre Beach at a recent Navarre Area Board of Realtors (NABOR) luncheon and said the local area has had positive growth overall, but has not completely recovered. Sheriff Hall pursues school resource officer funding

Santa Rosa voters might soon have an opportunity to decide if there will be a tax designated for school safety during the next election.  Sheriff Wendell Hall appeared before Santa Rosa County commissioners May 9, seeking permission to apply for a federal grant to help fund 9 resources officers for local schools. Displaced principal files lawsuit

A former Santa Rosa County principal, who was removed following a December 2012 incident which took place away from school, has filed a lawsuit against the Santa Rosa Professional Educators (SRPE), a labor union representing teachers, and Rhonda Chavers, SRPE president, citing slander and libel. Wildfire burning in Gulf Breeze-Navarre area

There is currently a wildfire in the Gulf Breeze area. The fire covers approximately 80
acres and is located southwest of the Garcon Point Bridge.

Motorist may encounter smoke throughout the night in the areas of SR281, I-10, US Hwy 98 in the Gulf Breeze, Navarre and Milton areas.

Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in the area. Visibility may deteriorate quickly if fog and smoke combine, especially at night and in the early morning hours. Motorist should also use caution in the area for forestry vehicles fighting the fire.
