Paula Kerry Nevius, 36, is accused of helping herself to $13,500 from the Holley-Navarre Primary School Parent Teacher Organization.

Teachers’ union threatens lawsuit over social media policy

Santa Rosa County teachers are up in arms over what they claim is an overly restrictive policy governing educators’ use of technology, and specifically social media websites, such as Facebook.

The Santa Rosa Professional Educators, the union that represents Santa Rosa County teachers and staff, had initially planned to file a lawsuit against the district, citing what they said were unfair labor practices.

Navarre housemates charged with swindling stolen property

Read more...Four Navarre residents were arrested last week on charges of grand theft, dealing in stolen goods and fraud.

Kristen Renee McDaniel, 21; Jaclyn Marie Flanakin, 25; Keith Richard Galante, 38; and Edward Melville Turner, Jr., 35, are accused of swindling goods from one Wal-Mart to another in an effort to bilk money from the retailer, who operates two Super-Center stores in the area, one in Navarre and one in Gulf Breeze.

Aerospace company considering Pullum property

Read more...TEAM Santa Rosa is courting an aerospace company that could become the first tenant at a controversial county industrial park.

Cindy Anderson, TEAM Santa Rosa Economic Development Council Inc.’s executive director, said during her annual report to the county commission in August that a company TEAM is calling “Project First” is interested in the park because of its location.

“It needs the interstate,” she said.  “It doesn’t want to be a mile off the interstate, two miles off the interstate, 10 miles off the interstate – it wants to be on the interstate. It trucks things in and out – it’s an aerospace and defense company, but it’s all about the roadway and being there on the interstate.”
