Santa Rosa County is currently in the cone of uncertainty as forecasted by the National Weather Service during an 11 a.m. conference call, according to Santa Rosa Public Information Officer Joy Tsubooka. Karen is expected to make landfall as a moderate tropical storm or minimal hurricane, and weather in Santa Rosa County is expected to begin deteriorating on Friday — with possible tropical storm force winds of 40 - 50 mph arriving locally on Friday evening and Saturday. The NWS advised to expect a possibility of 3 - 5 inches of rain from Friday through Sunday in association with Tropical Storm Karen. Coastal flooding of 2 to 4 feet could occur in beach areas and tide levels could reach 3 to 5 feet above normal, and dangerous rip currents are expected Friday and Saturday.
