Gulf Islands National Seashore is offering free admission Sept. 29 in celebration of National Public Lands Day.

Gulf Islands National Seashore will join all national parks in offering free admission Sept. 29, this Saturday, according to the press release.

“Gulf Islands National Seashore is a great place to get out and enjoy the beautiful beaches,” stated Dan Brown, GUIS superintendent, in the press release. “You can experience the history of the area by taking a tour of one of our forts located at Fort Pickens on Santa Rosa Island, Fort Barrancas within the Pensacola Naval Air Station or Fort Massachusetts located on West Ship Island in the Mississippi District of the Seashore.”

Camping is available at Fort Pickens; all sites are $20 per night with water and electrical hookups, grills and fire rings, and picnic tables.

Reservations can be made for the Ft. Pickens campgrounds up to six months in advance; walk-ins are accepted if space is available. Reservations can be made by calling 1-877-444-6777.
