UPDATED: Two crew of CV-22 released from hospital

Two of the injured crew members involved in the CV-22 crash on June 13 have been released from the hospital, according to the 1^st Special Operations Wing Public Affairs Office. 

Major Brian Luce and Tech. Sgt. Christopher Dawson have been released from Eglin Air Force Base hospital.

Captain Brett Cassidy, Tech. Sgt. Edilberto Malave and Staff Sgt. Sean McMahon remain hospitalized at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, but are in stable condition.

The five airmen were injured when their tilt-rotor aircraft crashed during a routine training mission approximately seven miles north of Navarre, Fla. on the Eglin Range.

“Supporting our families at home is a critical component of defending our nation abroad,” said Col. Jim Slife, 1st Special Operations Wing commander in a press release. “Right now, our efforts are focused on doing all we can to support our injured Airmen and their families.”

The mishap occurred during a routine training mission. A board of officials will investigate the accident, and more information will be released as it becomes available.

Officials at Hurlburt Field remain concerned about possible hazardous materials at the crash site, and urge residents to stay out of the crash area.
