A Navarre man received minor injuries following two-car accident early Friday evening at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and State Road 87.
Robert Dean Hurst, 65, of Navarre, was taken to Gulf Breeze Hospital after the truck he was driving collided with another car, driven by Cory Holland, 39 of Mary Esther, at 6 p.m.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Hurst was traveling behind Holland; both cars were waiting at the red traffic signal to make an eastbound turn onto U.S. 98. When the signal turned green, Holland told FHP that he saw Hurst accelerate and tried to move out of his way.
He was unable to move, and Hurst rear-ended Holland.
Hurst continued southbound, crossing all lanes of U.S. 98, left the road and hit the rear of a parked car and boat, pushing it into a home.
Hurst's car continued in a southeast direction on U.S. 98, and came to a final rest with its front up against a "for sale" sign.
Holland and his passenger, an 8-year-old boy, were both wearing their seatbelts and were uninjured.
Hurst was not wearing a seatbelt.
It is not yet known if alcohol was a factor in the crash, and charges are pending a FHP investigation.
