Cyclist struck by car on Navarre Beach

A Mary Esther man was taken by ambulance to Baptist Hospital in Gulf Breeze Wednesday morning, after being struck by a car while riding his bike on Gulf Boulevard.

Mark Hahnert, 46, of Mary Esther, suffered serious injuries when a car, driven by Dana Carr, 29, of Navarre Beach, struck the right side of Hahnert's bike at about 7 a.m. near Bahia Drive Sept. 7.

Hahnert was tossed from his bike.

Carr told Florida Highway Patrol officers that she did not see Hahnert because of the sun glare. She was cited for overtaking/improper passing of a bicycle.

Carr, and her 5-year-old passenger, were uninjured.
