GB woman dies in Nantahala wreck

A Gulf Breeze woman was killed in a two-car crash early Tuesday afternoon at the intersections of State Road 30 and County Road 191.

Loretta Riatusso, 56, of Gulf Breeze, was taken to Baptist Hospital in Gulf Breeze, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

At 3:35 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, Christopher Conner, 18, of Franktown, Co., was traveling eastbound on SR 30, approaching the intersection of CR 191.

Riatusso was stopped on CR191, at the intersection, awaiting a light change.

The traffic signal for SR30 changed to red, and the signal for CR 191 turned green.

According to the release, Conner failed to see the changing traffic signal and proceeded into the intersection; the front of his van striking the driver’s side of Riatusso’s two-door BMW.

Neither Conner or his passender, Michael Conner, 43 of Parker, Co., received any injuries.

Christopher Conner was not wearing a seatbelt, but the other occupants were.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash and charges are pending a FHP investigation.
