One of the largest sports camps held in Navarre in the past five years has been the British Challenger Soccer Camp and this year’s edition continued the tradition at the Navarre Youth Sports Association/South Santa Rosa soccer complex.
“We’ve enjoyed our relationship with NYSA, and these campers certainly speak well of their parents and the Navarre community,” said camp director John Worsing. “They’re a smashing group of youngsters who are polite and very easy to teach.”
Jayne Gorby, the NYSA camp coordinator, said more than 150 campers participated this year.
“The kids really look forward to the camp each year and that is proven by the high percentage of returning campers,” she said.
The Challenger camp ran in two sessions Monday through Friday last week and covered three age groups. Counting director Worsing there were seven instructors from England and Scotland passing their knowledge to young Navarre athletes.
