South end solid waste service providers selected

After the Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners interviewed the top five bidders, two were selected to provide waste management services to the south end of the county.

Waste Management and Waste Pro were selected to provide service to one of the two service franchise areas, one generally the unincorporated areas of the 32563 zip code and the other generally the 32566 zip code. It is yet to be determined which company will service which area.

Additionally, commissioners selected the twice per week pick-up service option with weekly recycling, removal of yard debris every other week, and bulk item disposal on demand. The county will now enter contract negotiations with both companies, with service to begin in June or July.
