Here are the resuts of the 2008 Santa Rosa County primary elections:

Sheriff

Wendell Hall 8,016

Chris Roper 4,330

 

Tax Collector

Stan Colie Nichols 5,793

Jeff Sessions 4,799

Robert McClure 3,382

 

Nichols will face Democrat Danny Holt in the Nov. 4 general election

 

Board of County Commissioners, District 1

Jim Williamson, 6,980

Tom Stewart, 5,560

 

Williamson will face Stacia LaDue in the Nov. 4 general election

 

Board of County Commissioners, District 3

Don Salter, 11,890

Marvin Fowler Sr. 10,568

 

Board of County Commissioners, District 5

Lane Lynchard, 8,942

John Broxson, 8,726

 

School Board District 2

Hugh Winkles 10,865

Jimmy Brown, 5,898

Because Winkles did not win by 50 percent plus one vote, there will be a runoff between the two candidates on Nov. 4.

 

Superintendent of Schools

Tim Wyrosdick, 12,928

Grady H.  “Herb”  Cannon, 9,780

 

Public Defender

James Owens, 10,179

Kelly Merritt Richards, 5,518

 

Owens will face Democrat Tony Henderson in the Nov. 4 general election 

 

State Representative, District 1

Ryan L. Gilbert, 3,093
