Knitting on a prayer

Jay Degraw leaned in, focusing on the two needles in his hands. Steadily, he wrapped the red yarn around one needle and followed through it with the other. The ball of red yarn sitting on the table beside Degraw moved, releasing a bit more of its treasure.

Degraw, along with three other members of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, gathered on a recent Thursday afternoon to knit their prayer shawls. It’s a newly formed group dedicated to knitting items for those in need.
