Event to help with skate park plans

Local skateboarders need a venue to enhance their talent and Fun Store owner Richard Hicks knows that.

Hicks teamed with Jason Funderburk to co-sponsor the Navarre Skate Park Fund – an effort aimed at bringing another skate park to the area.
The fund started six months ago, but fundraising has been quiet due to the hustle and bustle of other summer activities.
But on Aug. 28, representatives from American Ramp Company will be at the east end of the Winn-Dixie plaza, setting up a mobile skate park. The company will set up its three main types of ramps from the pro series, stealth series and concrete series. The idea is for kids to test out the ramps and see which ones they like, Hicks said.
