Sculptors take their time creating artwork from the sand on Navarre Beach during last year’s sand sculpting contestThe season of sand is here and that means it is time to go out to the beach and play. An activity gaining popularity on the beaches is sand sculpting, and not just with pails.

Charles Kunze, Jr. of Artisan’s Adventure said he enjoys sculpting sand for many reasons.

“It is hard work carrying and packing the sand, but it’s also a lot of fun for family and friends, and it is a great way to meet people and to have opportunities to encourage young people to get involved in public art,” said Kunze.
