The Emerald Coast chapter of Heroes on the Water showed 12 injured veterans what they could do on Nov. 3 when disabilities were left on the Santa Rosa Sound shoreline and replaced with kayaks, and rod and reel.
Frank Dailey, chapter coordinator for Heroes on the Water, joined the chapter after discovering how therapeutic time on the water can be.
“When I was group chief at Hurlburt, I was dealing with rigorous stress when we lost an airman in the unit. It took its toll on me,” said Dailey. “One friend, Barrett Fine, in the unit said ‘you need to come fishing with me.’ I sidestepped him until he said ‘you’re going with me.’ My wife immediately recognized the amount of stress I left out on the water.”
