In aviation parlance, helicopter pilots and aircrew have a saying that there are no crashes, just hard landings.
For Navarre resident Navid Garshasb, retired master sergeant, hard landings have been plenty, but just as aircrew get up after a hard landing, so too has Navid and his family.
Navid’s most recent hard landing came by way of a stroke last November.
However, to learn of his first hard landing, one must travel back in time to when he was a 9-year-old boy living in Iran. It was then that his father was killed and three years later his mother and sister boarded a plane bound for New York, where his older brother was a student.
