Osprey crash injures five

With news that the five crewmen involved in the crash CV-22 Osprey from Hurlburt Field on June 13 are recovering from their injuries, the focus on the cause of the incident and subsequent safety investigations now begin.

The Osprey, assigned to the 8^th Special Operations Squadron, crashed on June 13 about seven miles north of Hurlburt Field on the Eglin Range, north of Navarre, Fla., said Colonel Jim Slife, commander of the 1 Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt.

Slife held a press conference on June 14 to answer questions about the incident. 

“At this time we can’t speculate on the cause of the crash,” Slife said, “A board of officials is investigating the accident and no information regarding the cause of the mishap will be available until after the investigation is complete."
