Army opens new 7 SFG headquarters

A member of the US Army’s Black Daggers, the Special Operations Command Parachute Demonstration Team, drops into Meadows Parade Field at the new 7th Special Forces Group Headquarters near Duke Field. Col. Antonio M. Fletcher, commander of the 7 SFG, was on hand to officiate at the ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 14.

Amid a crowd of distinguished guests, military members, and community partners, Army Colonel Antonio M. Fletcher officially cut the ribbon on the new 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Headquarters.

The Army unit has finished its relocation from Ft. Bragg, NC to their new home near Duke Field. The unit occupies a $380 million cantonment site spread across 500 acres of land.

In his address to the crowd, Senator Don Gaetz said that the area had been waiting for the Army unit to arrive for some time.

“Now you’re home,” Gaetz said. “Northwest Florida gets it. We understand what you mean when you say the family business. You’re our family now.”
