Health Department detects new norovirus type

A new type of norovirus that has been causing illness in Florida has been detected by the Florida Department of Health.

The Department of Health has indentified the norovirus as Gll. 4 Sydney. Noroviruses are the most common cause of gastrointestinal illness and outbreaks especially in the winter months. Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea and it is easily spread from person-to-person.
