The heat is on for owners of local tanning salons, especially after the Obama Administration implemented a tax on indoor tanning as part of the new health care reform plan.

The 10 percent tax, which appears to have lobbyists and dermatologists across the nation celebrating, is, by design, supposed to funnel millions into health care coverage for the uninsured.

But for local salon owners like Janelle Jalil, the tax presents yet another burden for an industry that has already taken a hit.
