Bailey engages her bees

Beatriz Bailey, Holley-Navarre Primary School’s Teacher of the Year, poses for a photo with her second-grade class. Her students are holding ‘Bailey’s Bees’ the mascot for Bailey’s class. Bailey has collected many bees during her 15 years of teaching.

Beatriz Bailey, Holley-Navarre Primary School’s Teacher of the Year, doesn’t believe in the old saying “those who can’t do, teach.”

“I don’t agree with that,” she said. “It is more the case of ‘Those that can do, teach’ because we bring those experiences into the classroom and we desire to share those lessons with students.”

Bailey was in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years and brings a nurturing but disciplined approach to her classroom.
